Isla Lang Fisher is a British-Australian actress who gained popularity for playing Shannon Reed in the soap opera Home and Away, and as Vanessa Walker in the children`s adventure series Bay Cove. She is popular for her comedic roles in Scooby-Doo (2002), I Heart Huckabees (2004), Wedding Crashers (2005), Definitely, Maybe (2008), Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009), Rango (2011), Bachelorette (2012), and the television series Arrested Development (2013). Her other notable work includes her appearance as Myrtle Wilson in The Great Gatsby and as Henley Reeves in Now You See Me.

Early life
Born to Scottish parents Brian Fisher and Elspeth Reid in Oman, she moved to Perth, Australia at age six, where she also started acting as a child. Her father worked as a banker in Oman for the United Nations and her mother was a romance novelist, and she has four brothers. Fisher attended Swanbourne Primary School and Methodist Ladies` College. She appeared in lead roles in school productions like Little Shop of Horrors. When she was 21, she attended L`Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, where she studied clown, mime and commedia dell`arte. She was a teenager when she got opportunities to star in soap operas like Paradise Beach, and Home and Away.

Personal life
Fisher first met English comedian Sacha Baron Cohen at a party in Sydney, Australia in 2002. The two developed liking for each other, and eventually got engaged in 2004. The couple got married in March 2010 in a Jewish ceremony in Paris, and has two daughters Olive and Elula Lottie Miriam Cohen, and one son Montgomery Moses Brian Cohen.

Theatre Career
Fisher first started out with television shows after which she joined the L`Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq, a theatre and arts training school in Paris, and then appeared in a musical comedy stage production Pantomime in the United Kingdom. She then toured with Darren Day in the stage musical Summer Holiday and appeared in the London theatre production Cosi before setting her foot in movies.

Movie career
Fisher began her career by appearing in commercials on Australian television at the age of nine, post which she acted in a few television series, before moving on to working in short films like Bum Magnet in 1997, and Furnished Room in 1998. In 2001, the actress appeared as Kim in the German horror film Swimming Pool. In the very next year, she was seen in the role of Mary Jane, Shaggy`s love interest in the film version of Scooby-Doo directed by Raja Gosnell, which was when she came to the notice of her audience. This followed with an appearance as the character of Kristy in the Australian comedy The Wannabes. However, her breakthrough came with a significant role in David Dobkin`s Wedding Crashers (2005), alongside Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, as Gloria, the daughter of the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury. This role won her the Breakthrough Performance Award at the MTV Movie Awards. She also got nominated for the Choice Breakout (Female) and Choice Hissy Fit at the Teen Choice Awards for the film.

The actress began 2006 with the role of a Manhattan party host Becca in the drama London co-starring Jessica Biel, Chris Evans, and Jason Statham. This followed with another movie in the year, the romantic comedy Wedding Daze with Jason Biggs, in which the actress essayed the role of Katie, a waitress. She opened the next year with Scott Frank`s thriller film The Lookout as a young woman Luvlee co-starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Matthew Goode, and further went to working in Hot Rod as Denise along with Andy Samberg. Her next film, the 2008 romantic comedy Definitely, Maybe under the direction of Adam Brooks, opposite Ryan Reynolds, Elizabeth Banks, Rachel Weisz, and Abigail Breslin, got audiences to appreciate her comedic role as a copy girl. She followed this up with a voice role in Horton Hears a Who!.

Fisher featured in the movie adaptation of the book Confessions of a Shopaholic in 2009 in the role of Rebecca Bloomwood, a college graduate who works as a financial journalist in New York City only to fulfill her addiction to shopping. Even though the movie suffered critically at the beginning, it turned out to be an average grosser and fetched the actress her third Teen Choice Award nomination. Her next release was the black comedy Burke and Hare (2010) in which she portrayed the role of a young former prostitute Ginny Hawkins. This followed with a voice role for Beans in the computer-animated film Rango directed by Gore Verbinski. She won the Alliance of Women Film Journalists for Best Animated Female (2011). She also voiced for the character of Tooth Fairy in the animated film Rise of the Guardians.

Her 2013 release was the romantic drama The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Luhrmann co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The movie revolves around a World War I veteran who shares his experience on being attracted to Gatsby, in which Fisher essayed the role of Myrtle Wilson that got her nominated for Best Supporting Actress at AACTA Awards (2013). Another film in the year was Louis Leterrier`s magician crime thriller Now You See Me, about a group of four street magicians who rob a huge sum of money from an insurance magnet and how they are chased by FBI agents. In the film, the actress was cast to play the role of an escapist and stage magician Henley Reeves, opposite Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson. She received high critical acclaim and popularity among audiences for this role. She then appeared in one film in 2014 Life of Crime, a story based on a corrupt real-estate developer who does not pay a ransom to his wife`s kidnappers and the series of events that follow. In 2015, the actress worked in two movies - Visions as Eveleigh and in a cameo role as herself in Klovn Forever. Her 2016 releases include Grimsby as Jodie Figgs, Nocturnal Animals as Laura Hastings, and Keeping Up With The Joneses as Karen Gaffney.In 2019, Isla Fisher appeared in the American comedy film The Beach Bum, that also stars Matthew McConaughey, Snoop Dogg, and Zac Efron. Her 2020 release includes Greed.

Isla Fisher made her television debut with the television series Bay Cove in the role of Vanessa Walker, along with Christopher Fare and Rachel Goodman. She also appeared in the popular children`s television show Paradise Beach for two episodes in the role of Robyn Devereaux. Her breakthrough in the television industry came with the series Home and Away (1994-97), in which she essayed the role of Shannon Reed for a very long time. After this, the actress was seen in the miniseries Oliver Twist (1999) as Bet. In the following year, she featured in single episodes in the British television series Sunburn, and the drama series Hearts and Bones. She then appeared in another miniseries Attila as Cerca, followed by BeastMaster in 2002, Pilot Season in 2004, a voice role in Neighbors from Hell in 2010, and Bored to Death in 2011. In 2013, Fisher essayed the role of Rebel Alley in Arrested Development, which got her nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series at Screen Actors Guild (2014). In 2015, she voiced for the role of Button Sofia the First.
