Verdict: This Star Wars prequel promises a whole lot of action. The last three Star Wars’ films released in December 2015, 2016 and 2017, so it was a surprise when Lucasfilm and Disney decided to bring out Solo in the middle of this year. This is just five months after The Last Jedi and within a month from two action-packed films - Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2. They also chose a rather ... ...Read full review
Origin stories are tricky enough as they come, but the challenge of making a film on a beloved anti-hero in one of the most revered movie franchises is a whole different task altogether. Add to the fact that Solo: A Star Wars Story went through a lot of production woes, and even a die-hard fan would be right to ask is the Force strong with this one? Its crucial to ponder on these issues behind-the-scenes because they become glaringly apparent in the films pacing and tonality the first casualties of an underwhelming storyline. ...Read full review
Never tell me the odds, said Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back, staring death right in the face. No character is more quotable in the Galaxy Far, Far Away than Han, and these are perhaps his most famous words. And considering the legendary hurdles Solo: A Star Wars Story has had to cross to make it to our screens; theyve taken on newer (and graver) meaning. ...Read full review
After the Gtterdmmerung-like pomp and sweep of The Last Jedi, Solo, the latest entry in the Lucasfilm franchise, brings Star Wars back to earth with a Millennium Falcon-rattling bump. Much as the first Star Wars Story spin-off, Rogue One, modelled itself after classic men-on-a-mission war films, Solo digs out two more old genres from cinemas dressing-up box: the American western and the Weimar-era cloak-and-dagger thriller. ...Read full review
Solo: A Star Wars Story is a crackingly enjoyable adventure which frankly deserves full episode status in the great franchise, not just one of these intermittent place-holding iterations. Ron Howard was born to direct it. ...Read full review
Just when you thought you had your fill of summer movies fun, especially the Sci-Fi kind, along comes Solo: A Star Wars Story, to let you know there is room for some more. Han Solo, arguably the most beloved Star Wars character, gets a handsome face from Alden Ehrenreich, an actor with same great charisma as Harrison Ford. ...Read full review
After the heavy and dark last couple of films from the Star Wars universe Rogue One, A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the latest Star Wars film based on the origin story of arguably one of the most beloved characters from this universe Han Solo, is an excellent palate cleanser, it is light-hearted and full of adventure. ...Read full review
Han Solo is one of the most loved characters from Star Wars. Hes shown to be a space pirate of sorts, hunting alone in one of the fastest ships around - Millenium Falcon. Hes a rogue with a heart of gold who plays a stellar role in defeating the evil empire. He has a faithful companion in Chewbacca, a Wookiee warrior having great strength. Han is actually the Hawkeye of the Star Wars saga - not having any special powers of his own but still proving to be more than a match for everyone. ...Read full review
There is something very mechanical about Solo: A Star Wars Story. The film does not feel like it is telling a story it feels like it is rendering a theme park ride-like experience where you are constantly swerved around and drowned in a cacophony of noises. If you are going in expecting hollow and non-immersive storytelling, then Solo would be right up your alley. For those looking for new avenues and fresh elements in the Star Wars, universe this would be a tough one to sit through. ...Read full review
Growing up on the chaotic streets of Corellia which are filled with brutal masters, Han needs to get free from them. An aspiring pilot, he along with girlfriend Qira (Emilia Clarke) plans to leave Corellia but fails to go together. Hence, he starts his journey outside Corellia solo, hence Han Solo. Only if Qira couldve managed to get out together with him, we wouldve called him Han Duo? (Pun intended). Three years later, we see Han amidst a chaotic war scene proving how good a pilot he is. ...Read full review
I can think of many words to describe the new standalone Han Solo movie, but lets just go with colossally disappointing for now. Set up to reveal how our favorite scoundrel got his name, where he met Chewbacca, and how he came upon the Millennium Falcon, Solo: A Star Wars Story is a busy yet unmistakably underwhelming entry in the beloved sci-fi franchise. ...Read full review
