Early life
Born to Scottish parents Brian Fisher and Elspeth Reid in Oman, she moved to Perth, Australia at age six, where she also started acting as a child. Her father worked as a banker in Oman for the United Nations and her mother was a romance novelist, and she has four brothers. Fisher attended Swanbourne Primary School and Methodist Ladies` College. She appeared in lead roles in school productions like Little Shop of Horrors. When she was 21, she attended L`Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, where she studied clown, mime and commedia dell`arte. She was a teenager when she got opportunities to star in soap operas like Paradise Beach, and Home and Away.
Personal life
Fisher first met English comedian
Sacha Baron Cohen at a party in Sydney, Australia in 2002. The two developed liking for each other, and eventually got engaged in 2004. The couple got married in March 2010 in a Jewish ceremony in Paris, and has two daughters Olive and Elula Lottie Miriam Cohen, and one son Montgomery Moses Brian Cohen.
Theatre Career
Fisher first started out with television shows after which she joined the L`Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq, a theatre and arts training school in Paris, and then appeared in a musical comedy stage production Pantomime in the United Kingdom. She then toured with Darren Day in the stage musical Summer Holiday and appeared in the London theatre production Cosi before setting her foot in movies.
Movie career
Fisher began her career by appearing in commercials on Australian television at the age of nine, post which she acted in a few television series, before moving on to working in short films like Bum Magnet in 1997, and Furnished Room in 1998. In 2001, the actress appeared as Kim in the German horror film Swimming Pool. In the very next year, she was seen in the role of Mary Jane, Shaggy`s love interest in the film version of Scooby-Doo directed by
Raja Gosnell, which was when she came to the notice of her audience. This followed with an appearance as the character of Kristy in the Australian comedy The Wannabes. However, her breakthrough came with a significant role in

Wedding Crashers (2005), alongside

Her next release was the black comedy Burke and Hare (2010) in which she portrayed the role of a young former prostitute Ginny Hawkins. Isla Fisher made her television debut with the television series Bay Cove in the role of Vanessa Walker, along with Christopher Fare and Rachel Goodman. She also appeared in the popular children`s television show Paradise Beach for two episodes in the role of Robyn Devereaux. Her breakthrough in the television industry came with the series Home and Away (1994-97), in which she essayed the role of Shannon Reed for a very long time. After this, the actress was seen in the miniseries Oliver Twist (1999) as Bet. In the following year, she featured in single episodes in the British television series Sunburn, and the drama series Hearts and Bones. She then appeared in another miniseries Attila as Cerca, followed by BeastMaster in 2002, Pilot Season in 2004, a voice role in Neighbors from Hell in 2010, and Bored to Death in 2011.
